Interested in driving the most adventurous vehicle in the Ford lineup? Check out the F-150 Raptor.
Equipped to traverse muddy bogs, sand dunes, and rocky terrain, this pickup truck is an off-roading beast. For the latest model year, the Raptor has been fully redesigned and sports a slew of exciting upgrades. Here’s a quick spotlight on the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor that you’ll soon be able to buy here at Tropical Ford.
The highlight of this new Raptor is its all-new five-link rear suspension that boosts its off-road performance to new levels. Bolstered by next-generation FOX™ shocks with Live Valve™ technology and first-in-class 37-inch tires (optional upgrade), the 2021 F-150 Raptor is ready to explore the most scenic areas of Florida.
Under the hood is a powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine that specializes in peak low-end torque. What does that mean for drivers in Orlando? The 2021 Raptor is also a great truck for towing your boat or RV, as well as loading up with lumber to rebuild your front porch. Plus, it delivers a positively monstrous sound through its class-exclusive active valve dual exhaust.

The Ford F-150 Raptor is known by many for its legendary power and off-road prowess. Many have tried to beat this adventure-ready pickup in its versatile capability, but none have succeeded. One of the latest competitors seeking to challenge the F-150 Raptor is the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. It’s set to feature a new 702-horsepower HEMI engine. However, with a new supercharged V8 on the horizon for the Ford F-150 Raptor, this little update from Ram is of no concern to the most popular pickup in America.
According to Ford Authority, the next generation Raptor is going to house the Shelby GT500’s supercharged 5.2-liter V8 under its hood. This engine is expected to provide between 725-750 horsepower, which makes it the fastest street-legal Ford engine to date. That’s plenty more horses than the TRX.
There’s still no word as to when, exactly, this monster of a pickup will be available, although Ford Authority suggested it might come as soon as the end of the 2021 model year, or in the 2022 model year.
The current Ford F-150 Raptor isn’t shy about its power, either. It has a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 under its hood, boasting a significant 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. That’s the best in its class for now, and with the next-generation Raptor, Ford plans to beat the competition yet again.

The 2018 F-150 awards are coming in left and right, including the recent Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) award. The F-150 Raptor also took first place in the Off-Road Pickup Truck category.
According to Ford, the TAWA panel at the Truck Rodeo consists of more than 70 journalists who are experts in the auto industry, all of whom test pickups for more than 300 hours. Believe it or not, the Ford F-Series has won 14 other times throughout the history of the TAWA awards.
“With the new 2018 F-150, we’re honored to earn back-to-back Truck of Texas awards for F-Series, a recognition that speaks to the truck team’s dedication to our hardworking customers,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president and president, North America. “That’s especially true in Texas—truck capital of the world.”
The new F-150 has new features like an Auto Start-Stop feature for all engines, which helps to preserve gas, and an all-new 3.3-liter V6 option. The Raptor is built for off-road trails, offering a high-output engine, a Terrain Management System™, BF Goodrich KO2 tires, and upgraded FOX shocks. There’s no other pickup like the Ford Raptor. This truck was built for off-roading through and through. From its powertrain to its suspension to every little detail, the rugged terrain is this truck’s destiny. If you’re taking a Ford Raptor or another Ford truck from Tropical Ford out off-roading for the first time this summer, use these helpful tips for off-roading to stay safe and have the most fun.
Read the Manual Before you go off-roading, you need to make sure you understand everything about your vehicle. Read your owner’s manual to learn about things like traction control and the four-wheel drive system to get a basic understanding of its capabilities.
Practice First The Ford Raptor delivers exceptional handling and excellent grip on mountain roads and twisty, rocky surfaces. But before you take the Ford Raptor out for the real deal, get a little practice in on a smaller scale first. Find small creeks, steep inclines, and gravel roads where you can get a feel for how the truck handles so you’ll be more prepared.
Bring the Right Tools Don’t just head out empty handed. Not only should you bring with you a first aid kit for your safety, but you’ll need tools for your truck’s safety too. Look into purchasing the type of tools that will help you recover should you get stuck, like a quality winch, which can pull you out of a muddy situation.

This model has unparalleled off-road capabilities, offering a thrilling ride and athletic styling. The Raptor was also part of the first-ever official export program, sending the F-150 to places such as China.
According to Ford, the F-150 Raptor is made for off-road trails, with a special exterior design and added performance. This model comes with up to 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. There are also added features like Terrain Management, a widebody design, hood vent, and BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires, among other things.
“Ford is one of America’s top exporters, and F-150 Raptor’s appeal and unmatched off-road performance has earned the truck a loyal following around the globe,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president, The Americas. “Export to China enables us to bring a new group of enthusiasts into the Ford family.”
What else is so special about the Ford F-150 Raptor? This special model also comes with Ford’s signature military-grade alloy to help reduce weight and save on gas. Plus, with TORQUE-ON-DEMAND and 3.0-inch FOX Racing Shox, you can tackle virtually any terrain. It’s easy to see why Ford has been able to ship this pickup across the globe.
The Raptor completed the two laps on the track in 9 hours and 10 minutes, while the first, second, and third place winners of the unlimited class race were all modified Ford trucks.
The 2017 Raptor is lightweight thanks to its aluminum body, which allows it to use an EcoBoost engine that’s smaller, more powerful, and more fuel efficient than the average. Its suspension is improved from other F-150 models and it comes with off-road tires. The EcoBoost engine is paired with a 10-speed transmission and a torque-on-demand transfer case.
