Ford has built cars for the American people for over a century because they assembled the brightest minds of the times to design, engineer, and craft all their vehicles. The automaker realizes the importance of cultivating a love of education among all children, so they can take the industry into a bright future. That’s why Ford built the STEAM Machine Transit XL, a mobile science lab, to appeal to younger generations and spread a passion for science and discovery.
STEAM stands for Science, Technology,
Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. National STEAM Day is a time to honor those
fields and stoke interest in them among youngsters. The day in 2019 saw the
unveiling of Ford’s science lab on wheels, the STEAM Machine Transit XL, at the
Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.
Ford partnered with the museum to give everyone
free access for the day, meaning all people had an equal shot at enjoying the
numerous educational activities happening throughout the day. Children played
engaging games tha implicitly taught them laws of kinetic energy and motion.
Dr. Kate Biberdorf, known as Kate the Chemist,
performed at the event and lauded the STEAM Machine Transit XL, saying,
“[Ford’s] STEAM Machine allows kids to experience science in such a fun way-
they don’t even realize they are learning!”

the introduction of new, sportier models may give those numbers even more of a
Ford is making good on its promise to deliver affordable and highly capable electric vehicles (EVs) to drivers and businesses with the debut of the all-new Ford Transit Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). The impressive and efficient commercial van debuted recently at the Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle 2017 event, and businesses looking for an affordable, efficient, and clean fleet vehicle are rightfully excited.
Slated to roll out in volume in 2019, the Ford Transit PHEV features an advanced hybrid system capable of emission-free driving for up to 31+ miles. The new Transit will also be equipped with the award-winning Ford EcoBoost 1.0-liter engine to extend its driving range.
With the release of the Transit PHEV, Ford will be the only automaker to offer such technology in a commercial van. The van will offer, for the first time, unbeatable fuel-efficiency for urban-operating businesses that rely on fleet vehicles for a variety of transit needs.
The new Transit PHEV signals that Ford is ready to remain a top automaker as electric vehicles become increasingly in-demand, which is great news for drivers, as they can continue to count on unstoppable Ford performance without sacrificing cutting-edge efficiency.
