Valentine’s Day is generally the time for a major romantic gesture, but not everyone has the budget for it. Fortunately, the most romantic day of the year doesn’t require a bundle of cash. Check out these thoughtful Valentine’s Day date ideas that won’t break the bank.
Leave Messages around the House
Find an inexpensive pack of Valentine’s Day cards and write a custom message on each one. Once you’re done, leave them around the house for your loved one to find over the next few days (or weeks, depending on how many you make). If you waited until the last minute, writing your messages on sticky notes will do in a pinch.
Picnic in the Park
Of all the classic Valentine’s Day date ideas to ever make their way to the mainstream, a picnic in the park has to be one of the most affordable. All you need is a blanket, basket, and some food. Simple snacks will do just fine if you plan on going in the midafternoon. Bonus: if you go in the evening, you can watch the sunset with your loved one.
Make a Treasure Hunt
Set your loved one on a treasure hunt. Leave notes and clues around the house, work, or in the car. Have the trail lead to a special, but affordable, present.
If you need a new ride to make your Valentine’s Day date even more special, visit us at Tropical Ford.
Ford is making good on its promise to deliver affordable and highly capable electric vehicles (EVs) to drivers and businesses with the debut of the all-new Ford Transit Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). The impressive and efficient commercial van debuted recently at the Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle 2017 event, and businesses looking for an affordable, efficient, and clean fleet vehicle are rightfully excited.
Slated to roll out in volume in 2019, the Ford Transit PHEV features an advanced hybrid system capable of emission-free driving for up to 31+ miles. The new Transit will also be equipped with the award-winning Ford EcoBoost 1.0-liter engine to extend its driving range.
With the release of the Transit PHEV, Ford will be the only automaker to offer such technology in a commercial van. The van will offer, for the first time, unbeatable fuel-efficiency for urban-operating businesses that rely on fleet vehicles for a variety of transit needs.
The new Transit PHEV signals that Ford is ready to remain a top automaker as electric vehicles become increasingly in-demand, which is great news for drivers, as they can continue to count on unstoppable Ford performance without sacrificing cutting-edge efficiency.
Come into Tropical Ford to learn more about the upcoming Ford Transit PHEV van and discover a better way for your business to get around.
Business owners who want to stay connected with their employees on the road won’t have to wait long. Ford is partnering with Telogis to provide employers with a convenient way to track and optimize their fleet vehicles. The connected commercial vehicle services will be available on models equipped with the Ford SYNC® Connect infotainment system.
The Telogis-provided service will be available first in 2018 Ford F-150 models equipped with SYNC® Connect. From there, companies simply need to link their vehicles to an existing Ford Telematics or Telogis account.
Ford’s connected commercial vehicle services will allow companies to monitor and optimize its fleets and, by extension, workers. Through the Ford SYNC® Connect system, companies can keep track of vehicle location, navigation, route planning, and driver behavior.
“The addition of connectivity in Ford commercial vehicles provides value for customers that goes way beyond owning a great truck,” said Susan Heystee, VP of worldwide OEM sales, Telogis.
The Telogis Mobile Resource Management software will begin its roll out with the 2018 F-150. Other commercial vehicles, like the Ford Transit Connect, will follow soon after.
We at Tropical Ford are happy to see Ford offering new ways for business owners to optimize their fleets.
The 2018 F-150 awards are coming in left and right, including the recent Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) award. Scoring top marks at the Texas Truck Rodeo hosted by the TAWA, the new F-150 impressed judges with its competitive design and precision-tuned EcoBoost® engine options. The F-150 Raptor also took first place in the Off-Road Pickup Truck category.
According to Ford, the TAWA panel at the Truck Rodeo consists of more than 70 journalists who are experts in the auto industry, all of whom test pickups for more than 300 hours. Believe it or not, the Ford F-Series has won 14 other times throughout the history of the TAWA awards.
“With the new 2018 F-150, we’re honored to earn back-to-back Truck of Texas awards for F-Series, a recognition that speaks to the truck team’s dedication to our hardworking customers,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president and president, North America. “That’s especially true in Texas—truck capital of the world.”
The new F-150 has new features like an Auto Start-Stop feature for all engines, which helps to preserve gas, and an all-new 3.3-liter V6 option. The Raptor is built for off-road trails, offering a high-output engine, a Terrain Management System™, BF Goodrich KO2 tires, and upgraded FOX shocks. You can test the new F-150 and the F-150 Raptor at Tropical Ford today.

Ford vehicles have played many iconic roles throughout automotive history. From police chase cars to out-of-this-world adventures, there’s a Ford that makes the list. Here’s a quick look at Ford in popular culture from us here at Tropical Ford.
2017 Ford GT Ford’s famous supercar returned to the road in a limited production run. Naturally, Jay Leno snapped one up in a heartbeat. The car enthusiast and collector has a large enough collection that he even has a show about it. “Jay Leno’s Garage” has quickly become a fan favorite of collectors and auto fans of all ages. The addition of the 2017 Ford GT only makes his collection all the more impressive.
2018 Ford EcoSport Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 was a blockbuster hit. Led by some pretty inspiring super stars, the movie also featured an upcoming addition to the Ford lineup. The 2018 Ford EcoSport made an, albeit, brief appearance in the hit. Even so, it was enough to get people talking about the upcoming crossover.
1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 This short list wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t include the 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390. The muscle car is famous for its legendary car chase in the movie Bullitt. Its major role and iconic styling went on to inspire the auto enthusiast in film-goers of all ages.
Off-roading enthusiasts and SUV fans are on the edge of their seats awaiting the arrival of the new Ford Bronco. The long-awaited SUV is slated for launch in 2020, but some details are already slipping to the public. For example, the new Ford Bronco will be more like the Troller out of Brazil than the F-150 Raptor.
Most American drivers aren’t familiar with Brazil’s Troller. All you really need to know is that the SUV is off-road capable and offers an excellent utility-driven design. The Ford Bronco, however, will be offered as a four-door SUV rather than a two-door model like the Troller.
The Bronco will offer a standard 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 engine designed to offer performance and efficiency. Don’t fret, off-roaders. The 2021 Ford Bronco will feature capability beyond measure.
“Bronco will be a no-compromise midsize 4×4 utility for thrill seekers who want to venture way beyond the city,” Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, said in January.
While Ford has yet to comment on the leaks, the company did confirm that the SUV will be based on the Ranger pickup truck. Even so, it gives Bronco fans more to look forward to as 2020 creeps closer with each passing day.
We here at Tropical Ford can’t wait to see the new Ford Bronco make its public debut!
There’s no other pickup like the Ford Raptor. This truck was built for off-roading through and through. From its powertrain to its suspension to every little detail, the rugged terrain is this truck’s destiny. If you’re taking a Ford Raptor or another Ford truck from Tropical Ford out off-roading for the first time this summer, use these helpful tips for off-roading to stay safe and have the most fun.
Read the Manual Before you go off-roading, you need to make sure you understand everything about your vehicle. Read your owner’s manual to learn about things like traction control and the four-wheel drive system to get a basic understanding of its capabilities.
Practice First The Ford Raptor delivers exceptional handling and excellent grip on mountain roads and twisty, rocky surfaces. But before you take the Ford Raptor out for the real deal, get a little practice in on a smaller scale first. Find small creeks, steep inclines, and gravel roads where you can get a feel for how the truck handles so you’ll be more prepared.
Bring the Right Tools Don’t just head out empty handed. Not only should you bring with you a first aid kit for your safety, but you’ll need tools for your truck’s safety too. Look into purchasing the type of tools that will help you recover should you get stuck, like a quality winch, which can pull you out of a muddy situation.
Newer Ford models offer drivers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but if you bought a Ford with SYNC 3 before those connectivity systems were available, you’re in luck. Ford’s 2016 fleet had the SYNC 3 infotainment system, but not Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but now thanks to a special SYNC 3 update, drivers of 2016 Ford models will be able to download the software directly to their car.
What’s the catch? There is none, besides the fact that your vehicle has to be connected to a Wi-Fi signal in order to download the update. If your vehicle can’t download the software for some reason, you can head to your local Ford dealer, get the update on a USB drive, and plug it into your infotainment system. This marks a big step forward as Ford explores deeper into the realm of in-vehicle technology.
The SYNC 3 update follows news that Ford recently hired over 300 software engineers from Blackberry. Between the ability to download major upgrades over a Wi-Fi connection and new and innovative services like FordPass, Ford is staying ahead of the competition when it comes to high-tech features in their vehicles. Have a 2016 Ford model in need of an upgrade? Come to Tropical Ford and we can help you upgrade your SYNC 3 system today.
